Jordan Peele’s spot as a critically acclaimed director after massive success in the horror genre has been solidified, and now the artist is offering his audience another hint toward his upcoming project.

The writer-director made a name for himself in the film industry with his 2017 Oscar-winning screenplay Get Out. According to Universal, the movie gross over $250 million worldwide on a $4.5 million production budget.

Get Out received well-deserved recognition during award season; Peele making history as the fifth black filmmaker to be up for a nomination in the Best Director category.

Universal Pictures confirmed this recent project would be released in the summer of 2022 back in November 2020. On July 22, fans were given a title, poster art, and some of the leads within the film’s cast.

The future horror film is titled Nope, with the three main leads to be played by Get Out lead Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun. The choices for the leads have fans buzzing with excitement, as Peele often offers a stellar lineup in his films.

The poster centers on an ominous grey cloud hovering above an isolated mountain town. There is a kite string with many flags appearing to be falling out of the cloud, and one can assume that will play a part in the future storyline.

Fans have speculated on the plot of the film, which has yet to be revealed. The kite tail coming from the cloud has many assuming it may involve an alien invasion, but it is still too early to tell.

The movie proclaiming itself as the “new terror from the mind of Jordan Peele” is set to be released on July 22, 2022.
