Teyonah Parris Discusses Exciting History-Making Events in ‘Wandavision’ and Details on ‘The Marvels’
On June 22, Variety published an interview with American actress Teyonah Parris discussing her career. Best known for her roles on Mad Men and WandaVision, the talented actress talked about her current film role, making history in the Marvel series, and much more.
Teyonah Parris captured a lot of attention from viewers of WandaVision for her role as Monica Rambeau. The 33-year-old actress never thought she would get her role as Monica and Parris described receiving the role as an “honor.” Since Monica Rambeau is one of a few Black women superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Parris explained, “I wish those images in that representation had been there before me in the superhero space in a more vast way.” Alongside wishing this, the actress also felt proud for making history in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels is the next film that the character Monica Rambeau will appear in. On the topic of DaCosta, Parris called herself a “fan” of the director and complimented her “visual, very artistic eye.” The two have been working together to piece together Monica Rambeau’s story in the upcoming film. The actress stated, “Having a woman of color at the helm of furthering this story of one of the few super-powered female, African American beings, I think it’s really special.”
