Zooey Deschanel Co-Hosts New ‘Celebrity Dating Game’ With Michael Bolton
Zooey Deschanel will be the ‘new girl’ in ABC’s Celebrity Dating Game. Best known for her role as Jessica Day, Deschanel, 41, is co-starring with Michael Bolton in the new revival of the 1965 show The Dating Game.
The revival closely resembles the original. Celebrity contestants ask questions to three bachelors/bachelorettes in a certain amount of time. Based on each suitor’s answers, the contestant will choose who they want, but the contestant and suitors are secret until they meet.

Zooey Deschanel and Michael Bolton hosting the Dating Game. Finally. What none of us could have even fathomed to ask for— caitie delaney (@caitiedelaney) June 14, 2021
However, there is a catch in the reboot that differs from the original. The contestant doesn’t have to go on a date with the suitor if they don’t want to. Moreover, there are LGBTQ+ celebrity contestants and suitors. Many celebrities will appear on the show, former Bachelorette star Hannah Brown, Wipeout co-host Nicole Byer, Iggy Azalea, and the former Queer Eye star and RuPaul Drag Race judge Carson Kressley.
Co-host Bolton drops hints of the celebrity contestants’ identities through a parody of a song. For example, Bolton borrows the tune of “I Found Someone,” referencing an infamous windmill where Brown and Peter Weber had sex four times during her “Bachelorette” season, USA Today reported.

Deschanel was over the moon to be co-hosting the show, comparing it to cotton candy in an interview, “I would say it’s just super fun, like cotton candy. It’s just like watching people flirting, which is hilarious and fun; it’s definitely tongue-in-cheek. People are trying to guess the celebrity is a really fun element to add, because there’s a lot of excitement on the part of the contestants. They’re like, ‘Oh my gosh! I’m gonna go on a date with a celebrity! Who’s it gonna be?’ Everyone’s a little bit nervous. It’s just fun to see that.”
New episodes of Celebrity Dating Game air on Mondays on ABC.
