During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cosgrove was asked a number of questions. Everyone was dying to know about Jeanette McCurdy and her character, Sam. After all, it was reported that McCurdy quit acting years ago.
“Definitely, we touch a lot on the whole relationship with Sam and where Sam’s at in the pilot episode,” Cosgrove told Entertainment Weekly. “And then we mention her a little bit throughout the season, so we’ll definitely explain that on the show.”
In a separate interview with Comicbook.com, Cosgrove opened up about her and the cast’s feelings about McCurdy’s absence, “In real life, we all really wanted Jennette to be part of the show, but she’s just doing other things right now.”
The reboot takes on more of a mature spin on the show and characters. Now in their 20s, the show centers around Carly Shay and Freddie Benson navigating life as adults. The show will introduce new characters, Carly’s new best friend, Harper Raines (Laci Mosley) and Freddie’s stepdaughter, Millicent. The reboot kicks off on June 17, releasing thirteen episodes.
