Riverdale is returning to The CW on January 20, and we finally have our first trailer for its dramatic and highly anticipated fifth season.

After rumors of the trailer being released this week, the social media accounts for the hit series announced that it would be released today and naturally fans were ready for the new content.

The fourth season came to an early end due to COVID-19 when all filming came to a halt, but luckily those important episodes will begin season five before leading into a significant time jump for our favorite characters. We can expect to see a very emotional prom, which is hinted at in the trailer, as well as graduation.

Most of the details for season five have been kept secret, but we do know that actor Drew Ray Tanner (Fangs Fogarty) has been promoted to a series regular, and Erinn Westbrook has been added to the cast as a series regular.

Fans were beyond excited to see some of their favorite couples in the trailer too.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa was sure to add that the trailer was “just for the last high school episodes. MUCH more to come..”

Riverdale will air Wednesdays, and as Lili Reinhart tweeted, it seems that we are “in for a wild ride this season,” so be sure to tune in.
