Camryn Garrett Reveals Cover and First Excerpt of YA Novel ‘Off the Record’
Take a look into a young writer’s world in Camryn Garrett’s upcoming novel, Off the Record.
20-year-old author Garrett has a new novel coming out next spring, and it’s sure to be a hit. Last year, the NYU student was named a Glamour College Woman of the Year as well as one of Teen Vogues 21 Under 21. She gained enthusiastic reviews of her debut novel, Full Disclosure, which told an “uplifting story of an HIV-positive teen, falling in love and learning to live her truth.”
Garrett’s upcoming YA novel Off the Record tells a story of a young writer Josie Wright and her excitement about writing for her favorite magazine along with her struggle to find the right words for a story investigating a sexual predator. The official synopsis for the novel states “Josie’s world is expanding so rapidly, she doesn’t know whether she’s flying or falling. But when a young actress lets her in on a terrible secret, and then the secrets keep coming, she realizes she’s in over her head. She wants to do the right thing, but is this her story to tell? What if she lets down the women who have entrusted her with their stories? What if this ends her writing career before it even begins? There are so many reasons not to go ahead . . . but if Josie doesn’t step up, who will? This is a moving testament to the #MeToo movement, and all the ways women stand up for each other.”
The cover for Off the Record has recently been released, featuring a beautiful cartoon of the main character surrounded by numerous news article clippings and tweets. Additionally, the first chapter of the novel is available for you to read so you get a taste of Josie’s personality and the start of her journey.
