Robinson, known for her work in 2 Dope Queens and Ibiza, and Brosnahan, known for portraying Midge Maisel in Amazon Prime’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, are set to take part in this comedy special which will feature an all-female cast. As Robinson and Brosnahan are both comedians themselves, Robinson will host the special while Brosnahan will serve as the executive producer.

In the comedy special, female comedians will deliver eulogies for this unforgettable year. The special is set to premiere sometime this winter but does not have an official release date yet. Alongside Brosnahan, executive producers include Paige Simpson, David Jammy, Katy Mullan, Samantha Ressler, Nathalie Love, and Bess Kalb. Kalb will also serve as the head writer for the special. Linda Mendoza will serve as the program’s director.

In talking about the upcoming comedy special with Variety, Brosnahan said, “I can’t imagine a better way to lay this unfathomably awful year to rest than giving some of the world’s funniest women the last word. I’m grateful to our partners at Amazon Prime Video, We The Women, Bess Kalb and Done + Dusted for breathing life into our funeral and giving us all the opportunity to collectively heal through laughter.”

Robinson added to Brosnahan’s statement and told Variety, “I’m ready to put 2020 on fire like I’m barbequing at a Black family reunion. All kidding aside, the world is beyond stressful and confusing, so I’m honored to help take everyone’s minds off the heaviness with some much-needed comedy while wearing a fresh wig.”

Both actresses have been active on social media recently as they have been encouraging their fans to vote. Brosnahan and Robinson both posted on their Instagrams, imploring fans to make sure they are registered and ready to vote in the next Presidential election.

SURPRISE, Black Frasians! It’s National Black Voter Day!!! To celebrate (and also encourage BIPOC to register to vote) I had to sit down with one of my all-time favorite human beings: my forever First Lady and NYT bestselling author @michelleobama for an extra special episode of @blackfrasier. Miche and I are finally reuniting (remotely) to discuss the state of the naysh, which is dependent on one little thing: voting! In addition to talking about civic duty and @whenweallvote, we also chat about how she’s holding up during the quar-quar, the impact the youth is leaving on the world, and what’s next for me and British Baekoff! Plus, Miche and I play a fun game! All in all, this an uplifting and inspiring conversaysh that we hope will not only empower everyone who listens, but also make them feel less alone during these troubling times! • Artwork: @bpeppersart Co-Producer & Editor: @britishbaekoff Theme Song: @gavinturek Today’s Black Owned Business: Me! To support the podcast, I’m launching a merch store! I have a cute Black Frasier t-shirt and sweatshirt avail for sell. Sizing is small to 3XL.
