Naomie Harris and Mahershala Ali are reuniting onscreen for Apple TV+’s film Swan Song.

The film is being directed and written by Benjamin Cleary, who won an Oscar for his 2015 short film Stutterer. Harris joins the cast as the role of Poppy, the wife of Ali’s character Milo.

Adam Shulman, who produced the Apple original Defending Jacob, will help produce the film alongside Jacob Perlin and Ali.

While the movie’s synopsis is currently being kept under wraps, Entertainment Weekly reports that the film is “a genre-bending drama set in the near future that explores how far someone will go, and how much they’ll sacrifice, to make a happier life for the people they love.”

Previously, Ali and Harris were both Oscar and Golden Globe nominees for their roles in Barry Jenkin’s Best Picture film Moonlight. Ali took home both awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for his portrayal of Juan. Harris won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress.

Recently, Harris has graced the screen in last year’s Black and Blue as well as HBO’s original mini-series The Third Day starring Jude Law. Since the release of Moonlight, Ali has obtained a second Oscar for his portrayal of Donald Shirley in the 2018 film Green Book and was cast as the lead the third season of HBO’s hit series True Detective.

Swan Song will be available exclusively through Apple TV+ upon its release. We can’t wait to see Harris and Ali work together again for this new project.
