Erinn Westbrook Is Joining the ‘Riverdale’ Cast as a New Series Regular


Erinn Westbrook is the newest series regular for the fifth season of the CW’s Riverdale.

According to Deadline, Westbrook will be playing Tabitha Tate, the granddaughter of Pop Tate, who comes to Riverdale to take over Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe. She is described as ambitious and entrepreneurial, and wants to franchise the iconic diner as the town around it is struggling to survive.

Riverdale has already resumed production for the upcoming season in Vancouver with many safety precautions in place. Westbrook has shared her excitement about the new role on her Instagram, writing, “So very excited to finally be able to share this news. Looking forward to a fun ride! See you soon, Riverdale…” The actress also wrote on her Instagram Stories how excited she was to be part of the Riverdale family.

The Riverdale family has already shown their newest cast member a lot of love.

Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper) took to both Twitter and her Instagram Stories to welcome Westbrook.

Camila Mendes (Veronica Lodge) wrote “we’ve got our tabitha tate” with celebrating emojis on her Instagram Stories. Madelaine Petsch also wrote a sweet message on her Instagram Stories, writing, “Welcome to the family” with heart emojis.

The creator of the series, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, also took to both Instagram and Twitter to share the exciting news as well.

Westbrook is currently on Fox’s The Resident as a recurring role. She has previously appeared in Insatiable, Awkward, Glee, and Jane the Virgin.

We are so excited to meet Tabitha Tate and to see Westbrook bring the character to life. Riverdale’s fifth season is set to air in January 2021.
