The ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Cast Are Back in Their Scrubs

The cast of Grey’s Anatomy took to social media to share their first day back to set selfies, most in their scrubs.

Grey’s Anatomy is just starting to film for its seventeenth season after shutting down last season’s filming early due to COVID-19. Season 17 of the series will of course incorporate the virus into the plot since it is a medical series.

Ellen Pompeo, who plays Doctor Meredith Grey, took to Instagram to post a selfie of her and her co-star, and new series regular, Richard Flood. She wrote, “First time back in my scrubs… since we shut down filming 7000 healthcare workers have died from COVID. I dedicate my season 17 to all who have fallen and to every one of you who by the grace of God is still standing… this season is for you with humility and a bit of humor to get us through and endless amounts of gratitude. I hope we do you proud.”

Pompeo has dropped a few teasers about the new season via her Twitter account.

Fans didn’t waste a second before asking the actress more questions about the table read.

She also shared this cute interaction with co-star Giacomo Gianniotti. He plays Doctor Andrew Deluca on the show and has been a love interest of Pompeo’s character.

Actress Camilla Luddington, who plays Doctor Jo Wilson on the series, shared her reaction to reading the first two scripts of the season.

She definitely got fans excited and ready for the new season.

Luddington also took to Twitter to post a mirror selfie of her in her scrubs and mask on her first day back.

Along with the picture, she was on her Instagram Stories sharing the events of her first day.

She also shared videos of Kim Raver (Doctor Teddy Altman), saying they are working together.

Jesse Williams, who plays Doctor Jackson Avery, revealed his return to set with a series of Instagram Stories.

Kevin McKidd (Doctor Owen Hunt) posted a back to work selfie with the caption, “Day 1 season 17!! Excited to be back folks.”

Raver also posted a selfie of the two of them on her Instagram. She wrote, “Finding joy in seeing everyone again after a long time of quarantine. We are feeling joy knowing we are putting together stories for all of you!”

She followed it up with another selfie with Luddington, saying that they are “navigating a new normal together.”

Like Luddington, Raver also took to her Instagram Stories to share videos of the two of them.

Caterina Scorsone (Doctor Amelia Shepherd) posted the news that Grey’s Anatomy was back on her Instagram. She captioned her selfie with “And just like that, we were back, making love and magic for you guys. It feels good to know that we get to reach out and connect with you through the screens that are mediating our lives. I hope our stories meet your stories in a way that makes us all feel seen and held in this wild time. That’s my prayer for this season of Grey’s Anatomy. My prayer for us.”

Gianniotti revealed via Instagram Stories that he was going back to work for his first day and shared a back to work trailer selfie.

He then posted a selfie of him and Pompeo together, wearing masks, and wrote, “We are so excited to bring you another season. These past 6 months have been a challenge for everyone to say the LEAST. Because I cannot say it any better than Ellen, I will simply quote her, and second her sentiment. We love you all but this season is for our Medical Community.”

Back on the set of @greysabc with the #1 and only @ellenpompeo . We are so excited to bring you another season. These past 6 months have been a challenge for everyone to say the LEAST. Because I cannot say it any better than Ellen, I will simply quote her, and second her sentiment. We love you all but this season is for our Medical Community ‍⚕️‍⚕️‍⚕️‍⚕️‍⚕️. We are forever indebted to you. ——————————————— “Since we shut down filming we have lost over 7000 healthcare workers due to Covid 19. I dedicate my Season 17 to all who have fallen, and to all those by some miracle are still standing. This season is for you, with humility, and possibly a little humour to get us through these difficult times a little easier. I hope we do you proud.”
