While not much is known about this new development in terms of storyline or characters, we know that Aguirre-Sacasa will be in charge of writing this new project. This is really exciting news because he has written for Glee, Supergirl, Riverdale, and Chilling Adventures of SabrinaRiverdale is heading into its fifth season on the CW, which will air in 2021, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is heading into its fourth part. Unfortunately, while the fourth part is coming out soon, the series was canceled by Netflix.

With his love for teenage drama and mystery, the Pretty Little Liars world will be wide open to an infinite amount of mysterious possibilities.

Pretty Little Liars not only brought a beloved book series of the same name to life, but it also sparked the careers of its cast Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Janel Parrish Long, Sasha Pieterse Sheaffer, and more. We aren’t sure yet if any of them will be returning, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that they will be involved in some way.

Hale has actually already worked with Aguirre-Sacasa on the CW’s Katy Keene. Unfortunately, the series was canceled after one season.

The show originally lasted seven seasons with multiple specials on ABC Family/Freeform, eventually earning two separate spin-off shows due to its popularity. Pretty Little Liars would not be the same without Marlene King, the original showrunner, but we are unsure at this time if she plans on returning in any way. If she doesn’t come back, that could allow room for the creators to take a different direction with the new material. We’re excited to see the result either way.

It has been speculated that HBOMax might pick up the show for distribution but nothing is official yet.

With all these rumors flying about, it doesn’t feel like A left us only three years ago. Hopefully, we get some more news soon and we cannot wait to see who the new cast will be.
