The first four episode titles and cover art for Riverdale’s fifth season have been released.

Riverdale, like many other shows, had to stop production due to the coronavirus pandemic. They were not able to finish their fourth season, which resulted in them shortening it and then putting the last three episodes at the beginning of the fifth season. Riverdale has already gone back to production, which you can read about here and here.

The premiere is going to be Riverdale’s prom episode, which we already got a sneak peek of, but Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa has now released the official title for the premiere: “CLIMAX.” The art on the draft cover clearly references prom by having a scene from the comics of Jughead asking Betty to prom. 5×02 will be titled ”THE PREPPY MURDERS.” This comic cover includes Archie, Veronica, and Jughead, and it definitely looks like a heartbreaker.

In the Instagram post, Aguirre-Sacasa confirms that the first two table reads of Riverdale season five have happened already. He writes, “Even on Zoom and in quarantine, so grateful to be able to continue telling these stories with this incredible group of people. Back to the Town with Pep we go!!“

We also know the title of the third episode, which is the last episode before the time jump, rumored to be seven years, and was originally going to be the finale of season five. This episode will deal with graduation and is titled “GRADUATION.”

The first episode of the time jump, which will be the fourth episode of the fifth season, will be titled “PURGATORY.” The only thing Aguirre-Sacasa hinted at with these titles is, “As we say goodbye to high school and hello to…???” These two table reads have also been done and it seems like they will be doing two a day.

Naturally, fans are trying to break down what these four draft cover art means.

The cover art for the 5×04 script is from the Archie 1941 series.

We cannot wait for Riverdale to return in 2021 to the CW, and hopefully, we keep getting more new teases and sneak peeks to keep us occupied until then.
