MTV has announced the first three performers for the 2020 Video Music Awards.

MTV has thrilled audiences with the announcement of the first three live performing artists for the 2020 VMAs.

After fans poured in with their predictions, MTV announced Doja Cat, J Balvin, and BTS as performers, all of which are nominated for this year’s award show.

The 2020 Video Music Awards have received approval from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to host the award show in Brooklyn’s Barclay’s Center. With extreme safety measures and social distancing enforced, Governor Cuomo also stated there would be a “limited capacity to no audience” members at all. In May, MTV told Variety, “We’re exploring with government officials, the medical community, and key stakeholders on how to safely hold the 2020 VMAs at Barclay’s Center…Additionally, we are working on several contingency plans to bring music’s biggest night to audiences everywhere.” The VMAs may host virtual presenters throughout the award show in addition to MTV stating the performances will be held in different locations throughout the city.

This will be the first-ever BTS performance at an MTV award show as the band celebrates three VMA nominations. With their hit single “On” as the nominee for Best K-Pop, Best Choreography, and Best Pop Song, it is highly likely BTS will be performing the popular song on stage. The same could be said for Doja Cat, whose song “Say So” has received three nominations, including one of the top categories of Song of the Year.
