Noah Cyrus Released a New Heartfelt Cover of Mac Miller’s ‘Dunno’

On July 24, Noah Cyrus released a cover of Mac Miller’s “Dunno” to honor his legacy and support The Mac Miller Fund.

On September 7, 2018, Miller passed away from a drug overdose. Only a month prior, Miller released his fifth studio album, Swimming. Soon after, Swimming was nominated for the Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards. Miller rapped about his mental state, heartbreak, and hope at the end of a long tunnel. He continues to be in people’s hearts for his unique artistic ability and meaningful lyrics, and Cyrus is no exception.

my cover of DUNNO by Mac Miller is out now. in honor of Mac I’m also making a donation to The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Mac Miller Fund to help raise awareness for youth programming in underserved communities specifically as it relates to arts and community building. Mac you were such a kind soul and you touched and inspired people across the world. me being one of them. your legacy lives on and we all know you and all the other angels that were taken too soon are watching over us. what started off as a warm-up in the studio one day turned into something beautiful. i hope u like this and r ok with it. this song has been with me and gotten me thru a lot of my life these past few years. link in story if you’d also like to make a donation to Mac’s fund. 💙

Cyrus also donated to The Pittsburgh Foundation’s Mac Miller Fund, which gives opportunities and resources to young adults from underserved communities. The fund also supports young individuals overcoming substance abuse and fosters a sense of community building through therapy and post-treatment services.

Miller’s song, “Dunno,” was dedicated to Ariana Grande. They split in 2018, the same year that Miller passed away. In “Dunno,” Cyrus sings Miller’s lyrics, I think we just might be alright, thank God / I think we’re gonna be alright, alright, okay / Hold me close, don’t hold your breath / This feelin’ your favorite, I know, and she continues, Let’s get lost inside the cloud.  In the cover of “Dunno,” Cyrus sings about love, but we understand the heartbreak of covering Miller’s songs. While we know that Miller will not come back, like Cyrus, we can continue his legacy.
