You Need to Check Out Tallulah Willis’ Fashion Line Influenced by Mental Health

Tallulah Willis just launched Wyllis, an all-inclusive clothing line that is inspired by mental health and advocates for a positive lifestyle.

At 26 years-old, Tallulah Willis has embarked on a new journey into the world of fashion – something she would’ve done sooner if she wasn’t genuinely scared of doing it wrong.

She’s not afraid anymore, though, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore told Good Morning America. She’s launched a brand that she is proud of because of the fact that she crafted it with comfort, kindness, and awareness in mind.

To make sure the line was fully hers and done on her own terms, she named it Wyllis, which is her famous last name spelled with a ‘Y.’

Willis didn’t want to disregard her last name and that status that has come with it since the day she was born, but she wanted a bit of a separation between what the name stands for in culture and media, and what she is doing in fashion and advocacy.

She hopes by having her name in some connection with the clothing itself, the people who wear the items will feel a closeness to her and her message.

In an announcement of the clothing drop on her Instagram page, Willis wrote that in regard to her brand, “I strive to uphold a marriage of kindness, sensitivity, inclusivity, and awareness in my daily life and thus an extension of me, the beating heart of this brand will operate synonymously. The hope being that that wearer would feel these sentiments radiating from the threads in the garment to the imagery we create.”

Sizes xs – 3x (for now 🙃), Wyllis is coming to life. My baby has been nourished and taking its first steps in the real world. #1 shout out to my co-parent @instasteak – your impeccable ballet of work and dedication on bringing this messy, raw, and juicy idea into the physical world has evoked a depth of gratitude I didn’t know possible. I strive to uphold a marriage of kindness, sensitivity, inclusivity, and awareness in my daily life and thus as extension of me, the beating heart of this brand will operate synonymously. The hope being that that wearer would feel these sentiments radiating from the threads in the garment to the imagery we create. Welcome to our Wyllis world – we’re so happy to have you. 7/22/20

The actress hopes to foster a community that is open and vulnerable through the brand. She wants to showcase visibility when it comes to internal struggles, reaching out for help, and being honest with both yourself and those around you.

“Anyone who is close with me knows that I’m very, very vocal about my journey. I’m very open and vocal to kind of talking about these subjects of trauma and healing. And it becomes quite paramount in my adult life as a topic. So I really wanted to see if this visibility could help others. That’s my hope,” Willis told People Magazine.

The on the tags on the clothing itself there is more than just the brand name and the size. Every article of clothing under Wyllis has the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and the National Alliance on Mental Illness Helpline written out on the tag.

In addition, each garment – which comes in a variety of sizes and fits – is released alongside an empowering statement or sentiment, such as “Nothing Like Feeling Super Vulnerable.”

The pieces themselves are a modern take on vintage staples, such as typical men’s Hawaiian shirts being restyled as matching, genderless shorts, or two-piece sets.

For the first month, 10 percent of all proceeds made off the Wyllis summer collection will be donated to Loveland, a foundation that provides support, therapy, education, and resources to communities of color, with a focus on women and girls.
