At the 2020 BET Awards, Beyoncé dedicated her award to those who have marched for racial equality.

On Sunday night’s virtual 2020 BET Awards, Beyoncé accepted the Humanitarian Award in response to her philanthropic efforts. Michelle Obama presented the award and applauded Beyoncé for her activism and accomplishments.

In a pre-recorded speech, Beyoncé says, “I want to dedicate this award to all of my brothers out there and all of my sisters out there inspiring me, marching and fighting for change. Your voices are being heard.”

“You’re proving to our ancestors that their struggles were not in vain. Now we have one more thing we need to do to walk in our true power and that is to vote. I’m encouraging you to continue to take action. Continue to change and dismantle the racist and unequal system.”

Most importantly, the star tells the BET Awards viewers, “We have to vote like our life depends on it, because it does.”

The “Single Ladies” singer was chosen for the award in response to BeyGOOD, her charity initiative that was created back in 2013 during her Mrs. Carter World Tour. Since the start of COVID-19, Beyoncé has engaged in multiple relief efforts. These efforts include the #IDIDMYPART mobile testing initiative, as well as creating support groups for those most vulnerable to the virus.

If you’re not registered to vote yet, what are you waiting for? Take a piece of advice from Queen Bey herself and “vote like our life depends on it.”
