Tessa Thompson joined the fleet of celebrities taking to the streets of America in support of racial equality.

In the last week, celebrities and civilians alike have been flocking to the streets of national cities to demand both racial equality and justice over the brutalized death of George Floyd, who died at the hands of a white officer in Minneapolis.

The Westworld actress has been a vocal advocate for racial equality in the past, supporting equal pay for women of color and promoting increased diversity in the film industry. Over the weekend, she joined the likes of Michael B. Jordan and Timothée Chalamet to march through her home city, calling for an end to racial discrimination. Posting on Twitter, Thompson can be seen among throngs of people waving placards and chanting “This is America”.

While there have been violent instances across the nation, Thompson called out the LAPD by commenting the protests had been peaceful “until they arrived and escalated it”, while also highlighting the lack of media coverage following their arrival. Her message echoes Ariana Grande’s, who has criticized the unequal news reports surrounding the movement, as many are publicizing civil unrest rather than the preceding hours of peaceful protests.

Although the Black Lives Matter movement has been gaining momentum following Floyd’s tragic death, there is still a long way to go before racism is a thing of the past. You can watch Tessa’s video in full above, and share her posts with anyone and everyone to help make America equal. Speak out, and use your own voice to make a difference.
