Americans across the country are outraged by the death of George Floyd, and during this time of national turmoil, people are looking to influencers with substantial platforms to speak out and spread awareness about the injustice that was done.

One notable pair of celebrities that have decided to use their voice and means to support the Black Lives Matter movement is Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Last week, the couple donated $200,000 to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, an organization that fights for racial justice by the expansion of democracy and elimination of disparities through litigation, advocacy, and public education.

Lively and Reynolds, with 27 million followers on Instagram and 16.1 million followers on Twitter respectively, spoke candidly about systemic racism and vowed to be allies to the black community.

In her most recent Instagram post, Lively made it a point to acknowledge how society as failed to support the black community in the past while calling on current and future generations to educate their children and put an end to this “insane pattern.”
