Natalie Portman acknowledged the unnominated female directors in the best way.

We hope you caught the 92nd Oscars the other night and were wowed by all the looks everyone was serving. Unfortunately, a few well-deserving female directors were not nominated this year for best director award.

To acknowledge these women, actress Natalie Portman wore a custom black and gold embellished Dior gown with a cape with all the names of the women who were not nominated. The subtle recognition of these women’s names was an iconic moment for the 2020 Oscars.

The names on her Dior cape were directors: Greta Gerwig, Lorene Scafaria, Mati Diop, Marielle Heller, Alma Har’el, Melina Matsoukas, Lulu Lane and Celene Sciamma.

Other Oscar attendees took it upon themselves to recognize others as well. Spike Lee wore a purple and yellow suit with the number 24 in remembrance of Kobe Bryant. Famous costume designer, Sandy Powell, wore a white suit that she had Oscar attendees sign their autographs to later auction off this suit where the proceeds going to the Art Fund Initiative that saves Derek Jerman’s prospect cottage.
