Netflix Is Experimenting with Weekly Releases
Netflix, who’s known for having binge-watching quality, is now trying weekly releases.
Netflix is known for releasing full episodes during different seasons like hit shows like Stranger Things, Orange Is the New Black, and 13 Reasons Why. However, the popular streaming platform is facing major competition with Disney+, the new streaming platform for Disney.
Marvel shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Dare Devil are all canceled on Netflix as a result of Marvel being newly owned by Disney. With Disney releasing their own streaming platform Marvel Comic shows like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Wanda Vision are all going to be streamed on Disney+ and will be releasing episodes on a weekly basis instead of dropping them all at once like Netflix Originals
Netflix has announced on Twitter they are experimenting with the idea through licensed shows like Great British Baking Show and Rythm +Flow, however, they aren’t letting any more shows participate besides those two.
the weekly release of licensed titles (like Great British Baking Show) isn’t new and in hopes of keeping Rhythm + Flow’s winner a surprise, we’re trying something new! but not happening with more shows than that

This is a huge new shift for Netflix since the announcement but fans don’t seem to like the idea of waiting. After all, it was Netflix who started the binge-watching practice.
