Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’ Scores Biggest Week for Any Album in the U.S.
Taylor Swift’s new album Lover scored the biggest week for any album in the U.S. since the release of her 2017 album Reputation.
Swift’s new album became this year’s highest selling album in the U.S. in only 24 hours. In the U.S., Lover has surpassed over 1 million in consumption and is drawing near 700k in pure album sales this week. Globally, Swift’s new album has reached over 3 million in consumption.
The release destroyed Target’s all-time pre-sale record and surpassed debut physical sales of Reputation. Swift’s Lover has also reached #1 in 98 countries on iTunes. Every song debuted in the top 25 with nine making it to the top 10 on Spotify’s U.S. chart, and the album broke the global record as the “top album in the history of Amazon Music.” Swift took some time to tweet how much her new album means to her.
This album is very much a celebration of love, in all its complexity, coziness, and chaos. It’s the first album of mine that I’ve ever owned, and I couldn’t be more proud. I’m so excited that #Lover is out NOW: https://t.co/t7jK7XmEqa pic.twitter.com/NMgE7LTdGZ
