At this year’s biennial D23 Expo, Disney’s Animation team announced the company’s next original animated film.

The new film will be titled Raya and the Last Dragon. It will be an epic fantasy adventure set in a Southeast Asian-inspired ancient world called: Lumandra. The story follows warrior Raya in her quest to find the last dragon of the five clans of the land of the dragon.

Walt Disney Studios released the official logo and a piece of concept art for the film, showing what appears to be the main character Raya riding a sort of mythical turtle-like cartoon creature, surrounded by lush greenery and pieces of an ancient ruin. The clouds in the sky behind her appear to be shaped like a dragon.

Actress Cassie Steele will voice the character Raya, and rapper Awkwafina will voice Sisu, the dragon. Paul Briggs and Dean Wellins, who also worked on Big Hero 6 and Frozen, are the directors of Raya and the Last Dragon. Other team members include Osnat Shurer as the producer and Adele Lim as the scriptwriter.

The film is set to be released in theaters in Nov. 2020.
