Join Yara Shahidi’s ‘We Vote Next’ Summit
Yara Shahidi encourages voters to participate in Midterm elections.
On Instagram, Yara Shahidi posted a video expressing how excited she is about the #WeVoteNext summit. Eighteen x 18 is a leadership that was founded by the “Grown-ish” actress. The purpose of the organization is to help educate diverse next generation voters in America through “the power of storytelling.”
The conference is taking place on September 28 and 29 in Los Angles California. Yara posted the announcement on her Instagram explaining that the summit is a way for young people to discuss issues that are most important to them and decide how elected officials should address these issues. Yara also stressed on the idea of making a big impact and with the help of workshops, interactive panels, live entertainment and keynote speakers it should be able to send you down the path of making a difference.
Let’s Unite! ⚡️⚡️We’re building a diverse delegation of young people to discuss the issues that are most important to us, decide how our elected officials should address them and learn what we can do to make the biggest impact. Splitting time between hands-on workshops, interactive panels, keynote speakers and live entertainment, each attendee will leave the #WeVoteNext Summit with all the tools they’ll need to make a difference! Yara posted a video detailing the summit. She explains that they want to have delegates from every state including Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and any US territories. All delegate and living expenses are paid for because the organization did not want socioeconomic issues to be a reason why a delegate couldn’t attend.
“On average, 96 Americans are killed by guns every day. This conversation is obviously about more than guns. It’s about protecting and investing in life.” -Our founder @YaraShahidi on the urgency of TODAY. We need #GunReformNow or we won’t have the future we deserve. 🎥: @nowthisnews #WeVoteNext #GunReform #NeverAgain #Enough
The deadline to apply is on Sept 7, and there is a limited number of seats, so we encourage all to apply. We would like to command Yara for using her platform to give people voices. It’s great that she started this initiative to get people to vote and be more involved in social issues like gun violence.
