Viola Davis to Release Book, ‘Corduroy Takes a Bow’

Is there anything that Queen Viola can’t do?

The How to Get Away with Murder actress is releasing a book called, “Corduroy Takes a Bow.” The actress announced the news of the pre-order on her Instagram and we are so ready.

Corduroy Takes a Bow is written by Viola Davis and illustrated by Jody Wheeler. This is a sequel and it is celebrating 50 years of America’s favorite teddy bear.

The plot of the book is entertaining because it is different than anything we’ve seen from a children’s book perspective. Corduroy is going to the theater for the first time, and he is headed towards an adventure. The premise quotes, “From the orchestra pit to the prop table to the dressing rooms, Corduroy sees it all. Could there be a place for Corduroy on stage, too?”

The book is very important to Black kids or adults who grew up and saw themselves in Corduroy’s friend Lisa who was African American. It is important for young Black kids to grow up and be able to identify with characters that look like them and they can relate with. We are so excited about Viola’s book. No matter what age you are, please go out and support the Queen’s work. You can pre-order, “Corduroy Takes a Bow” on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, Target or Walmart.
