What to Know About the Upcoming Presidential Debate
Here is some important information for you to know about the third Presidential Debate.
The next presidential debate is set to take place this Thursday, October 22 between President and Republican nominee, Donald Trump and Democratic nominee, and former Vice President, Joe Biden. This debate may be the most important one yet in light of Election Day coming up on November 3.
The debate is set to take place on October 22, at Belmont National Univerisity in Nashville at 9:00 P.M. EST. Major public broadcasting networks such as CBS, ABC Fox News, CNN, and MSNBC will be airing the event. Also, the debate will be available for streaming on YouTube through multiple channels, such as NBC News.
Despite President Trump’s recent COVID-19 diagnosis, his physician, Dr. Sean P. Connely has issued in a statement that Trump has “tested negative, on consecutive days,” therefore making him healthy enough to take part in the debate. Another critical adjustment for this debate is the moderator will be allowed to mute microphones to prevent the problems of interrupting that was prevalent in the first debate.

The moderator will be Kristen Welker. Teen Vogue gave a detailed summary of her, stating “Kristen Welker will moderate the debate. In doing so, she’ll be the second Black female journalist to be the sole moderator of a presidential debate. Welker is a co-anchor for Weekend TODAY and NBC News White House correspondent. In November 2019, she co-moderated a Democratic nominee debate with Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, and Ashley Parker.” Additionally, Trump has been questioning her credibility in recent tweets, calling her “terrible and unfair”.

According to an article by Bay News 9, the debate will cover the topics: “Fighting COVID-19,” “American Families,” “Race in America,” “Climate Change,” “National Security” and “Leadership.”
