After three devastating mass shootings, Lady Gaga is giving back to the communities that were deeply affected.

The United States has most recently faced three deadly mass shootings that occurred in El Paso, Texas, Dayton, Ohio, and Gilroy, California. In just these three shootings, 34 people have been killed and 65 have been left wounded. Ever since these tragic events took place, many people have started taking action by helping and donating to the communities affected, including singer/actress/philanthropist Lady Gaga. Gaga stated on Facebook that during this back-to-school season, she’ll fund the students that were affected by these shootings. With this initiative, she hopes to encourage and spark hope within the kids and the community.

Gaga has pledged to “fully fund” 162 school projects, including requests made by teachers from 125 classrooms in El Paso, 14 classrooms in Dayton, and 23 classrooms in Gilroy. She is partnering with the non-profit, DonorsChoose, as well as her very own “Born This Way” Foundation. Many projects have received funding already, including a $462 project at Whitaker Elementary school and a $862 project at North Dayton School of Discovery that supplies an “active chair”, a “wobble chair”, “bouncy bands for chairs”, a weighted fleece blanket, and other equipment for students with cognitive and physical disabilities.

Christopher Pearsall, vice president of DonorsChoose stated, “To know that strangers from across the country – let alone someone like Lady Gaga and Born This Way Foundation – want to express a random act of kindness to you and your community is a reminder that there are many more people who want to do good in the world”. It is safe to say that Lady Gaga is making a major and positive impact in the lives of children and the communities affected by the recent shootings.
