Lil Nas X Ends Pride Month by Coming Out

Lil Nas X ended Pride month with a bang. He used the last day of June to come out and tell the world he is gay. On June 30 he tweeted, “some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not gone fwm no more. but before this month ends i want y’all to listen closely to c7osure.” The tweet featured a video and his new track C7osure.

In Lil Nas X song C7osure it says, “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow
No more red light for me, baby, only green.” The song also talked about being free and that he does not want to regret not being himself when he is older.

Even though Pride month is over that does not mean the fight for equality is. Seeing those in the public eye be true to themselves helps others feel comfortable with being themselves too. Being able to relate to someone can help immensely when you are struggling with who you are.

Pride month has ended but the celebration of equality will continue. Acceptance is for every gender, sexuality, and race and the fight for it will not end just because Pride month is over. Stay proud and do not be afraid to be who you are.
