Netflix has been gearing to release The Black Godfather, a documentary about the business executive Clarence Avant, aka “The Godfather of Black Music.” Clarence Avant heavily influenced icons from all walks of life, including Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg, Muhammad Ali, Presidents Obama and Clinton, and many others.

Considered a legend of sorts, his story and life will be presented in this special film and will be shown in select theaters as well as on Netflix.

As of the writing of this article, The Black Godfather soundtrack has not yet been released, but rapper and R&B singer Pharrell Williams released one song from it, just hours ago.

Williams’ “Letter To My Godfather” was made specially for The Black Godfather and is sure to catch on. It’s slow and powerful, reminiscent of gospel in its lyrics but with an R&B sound.

With such a great soundtrack, this documentary is sure to be a powerful one. Watch the trailer below and make sure to stream the documentary on Netflix.
