Rihanna Breaks Luxury Barriers

Rihanna might have began her start to stardom popping out soulful pop hits, but as of late the beloved Riri has ventured into various worlds.

Not only has she brought us amazing anthems but is now bringing us luxury fashion and making headlines at the same time. Though she had delved into luxury pieces before, she has definitely out done herself. The Caribbean princess has signed a deal with Louis Vuitton to bring Fenty to the realm of high fashion. But the Fenty goddess is not just bringing her new Fenty to LV, she is paving the way for young female artists and artists of color to do the same as the first female black artist to collaborate with the luxury brand. Riri’s decision to partner with LVMH is astounding, not to mention the Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton fashion house itself is monumental.

Fans of both the pop star and the fashion house can’t take it. Rihanna announced the partnership on Friday and since then we have been patiently awaiting more news from the rising star. “Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us,” Rihanna said in a statement issued by LVMH. “[Chairman Bernard Arnault] has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”

Fenty

Of course this isn’t the first rock Riri has touched that turned to gold, with a saturation of products that have dominated the game of makeup, shoes, and lingerie. The star debuted her Puma line in 2014 and the infamous Savage Beauty and Fenty cosmetics that threw the industry for a loop.  Riri’s line will now be one of the few collaborations between artist and major fashion houses including Virgil Abloh, Dapper Dan and a few select others
