Childish Gambino (AKA Donald Glover) released a 55-minute film starring him and Rihanna during his headliner Coachella performance.

While we weren’t looking, Donald Glover and Rihanna somehow found time to shoot a secret movie in Cuba. The film stars Donald Glover as Deni Maroon, a charming and goofy musician who wants to throw a music festival for the people of Guava Island to enjoy. Rihanna plays Deni’s girlfriend, Kofi Novia, who isn’t impressed with his songs or his pipe dreams. The cast also features Letitia Wright of Black Panther. She brings the same free-spirited energy as her character in Black Panther to her role as Yara, Kofi’s best friend.

The whole island is governed by the Red family who controls the islands main export, blue silk. The Red family is displeased when Deni tries to get the citizens of Guava time off to enjoy the festival. The film is aesthetically-driven with warm, beautiful shots of Havana, colorful fabrics, and an animated sequence. Fans of Donald Glover’s critically-acclaimed FX show, Atlanta will be pleased to know that the show’s creator and director, Hiro Murai is also the director of Guava Island. The short film is currently available for streaming on Amazon Video.
