Busy Philipps New Tattoo is a Little Controversial and We Love it

Instagram

Busy Philipps revealed her new tattoo on Instagram and I’m sure we were all a little shocked. However, I have to say I’m kind of in love with it. The inspiration for the tattoo–a line drawing of an ice skater with the words, “f– em” underneath–comes from her recent memoir, This Will only Hurt a Little. The actress captioned the photo, “My favorite illustration drawn by @mcfetridge for my book #thiswillonlyhurtalittle (it’s in the A Movie Script Ending chapter). Tattooed beautifully by @dre.dayli in Dallas at @thirdeyegallery last night. And weirdly true to form and as things always tend to be, it really always only hurts a little.

Amidst the tons of fans showing their love for the actress’s new tattoo, there were of course a few people that weren’t crazy about it. Many people had questions for Busy, mother of Birdie, 10 and Cricket, 5, about how she would explain the tattoo to her daughters. Busy responded, “I tell them that these are words to live by, especially as a woman” in her Instagram comments.

She later addressed the controversy on her talk show, Busy Tonight, where she said, “My kids have heard the word ‘f—’ before — they’re my f—ing kids,” she said, laughing. “If you’re not teaching your daughters to say ‘f— ’em’, they’re just going to end up watching a lot of boys playing video games or skateboarding in parking lots. Is that what you want for them?”
