Ashton Sanders Stars In New HBO Film ‘Native Son’

The Moonlight actor is bringing us another great performance in his newest film.

23-year old Ashton Sanders stars in the film adaptation of Richard Wright’s Native Son. The film was directed by Rashid Johnson and written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Suzan-Lori Parks.

Native Son follows a young African American kid from Chicago, Bigger Thomas (Ashton Sanders), as he begins working for a wealthy white family as their chauffeur. With the job comes a turn of events that ultimately flips Bigger’s life around completely.

The film made its screen debut at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival where it reached rave reviews and was later picked up by HBO Films. Other stars in the film include Sanaa Nathan, Margaret Qualley, Bill Camp, KiKi Layne and more. Native Son is set to premiere on HBO April 6th at 10pm EST.
