‘Maleficent 2’ Receives New Release Date

The release date for Maleficent: Mistress of Evil has been moved up seven months.On Wednesday, Walt Disney Studios announced that the new movie will now be released October 18, 2019. The release date was previously May 29, 2020. The new date means that the fantasy-adventure film will be up against The Adams Family, the adaptation of Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch, Zombieland 2, and Gemini Man, all of which will also be in theaters around the same time. The previous release date in May would have placed Maleficent: Mistress of Evil up against titles like Fast & Furious 9 and The Spongebob Movie.

Angelina will be returning for her role of villainous enchantress, Maleficent. The cast will also include Elle Fanning, Sam Riley, Imelda Stauton, Juno Temple, and Lesley Manville. The first Maleficent was a box office hit upon it’s release in 2014 grossing $758.5 million. We cannot wait to see what’s in store for the sequel.
