Hulu to Release New True-Crime Series Starring Kissing Booth’s Joey King

Based on the true crime story of Dee Dee Blanchard, #TheAct premieres March 20. The Act is a seasonal anthology series that tells startling, stranger-than-fiction true crime stories. The first season follows Gypsy Blanchard, a girl trying to escape the toxic relationship she has with her overprotective mother.
The case that made headlines is coming to a TV near you. #TheAct is a new “seasonal anthology series that tells startling true crime stories” to be released in March 2019 on Hulu. The first season follows extremely ill Gypsy Blanchard (portrayed by @joeyking) and her doting mother, DeeDee (portrayed by @PattyArquiete). Kissing Booth’s Joey King channels Gypsy’s soft high-pitched voice and even shaved her head for the role.
As the story unfolds, it’s revealed that nothing is as it seems. After many years of receiving charitable donations like trips to Disneyworld and even a new house, people start to question if Gypsy is really as sick as DeeDee says. Sadly, this case ends in murder with a much healthier looking Gypsy on trial for it. The question is was Gypsy Blanchard a victim of child abuse escaping from her captor or a cold-blooded killer?
