GLITTER: Did you always want to be an actress?

JAYLEN: Yes! Ever since I was a little girl! I haven’t dreamed of having any other career. I can’t really see myself doing anything else.

GLITTER: What can you tell us about Free Rein on Netflix without giving anything away?

JAYLEN: It’s about a young American girl who goes over to England with her mother and little sister and falls in love with a mysterious horse… and a couple boys along the way!

GLITTER: What’s it like playing Zoe?

JAYLEN: Playing Zoe is so refreshing because I’m used to playing such a grown up role. Zoe always brings me back down to Earth. She’s sweet, sincere and driven. I often look into her character for some of my real-life obstacles and what she might do in those situations!

GLITTER: Is it true that Free Rein won a daytime Emmy?

JAYLEN: Yes, we were blessed to be nominated for 6! And we won 2! It’s still surreal to this day!

GLITTER: What other roles have you had in the past?

JAYLEN: I’ve played a variety of characters! From Lauren on Disney Channel’s Good Luck Charlie to Dominique from Showtime’s Shameless!

GLITTER: What do you love to do in your spare time?

JAYLEN: I love to spend time with my family, go on hikes with my dogs and trying new foods!

GLITTER: If you weren’t an actress, what would you want to do instead?

JAYLEN: I feel like I would own a dog shelter!

GLITTER: What is something fans may not know about you?

JAYLEN: I feel like fans don’t know that I am an extremely nervous person and I overthink everything! I’m constantly thinking about what’s going to happen in the future and unfortunately that distracts me from being in the moment.

GLITTER: How do you give back to the community?

JAYLEN: I love animals, so I volunteer at my local shelter.

GLITTER: Best advice you were ever given?

JAYLEN: The best advice I have ever received was “Treat every audition as if it’s your first.”

GLITTER: Favorite exercise and ways to stay healthy?

JAYLEN: Boxing. It’s extremely good for hand eye coordination and cardio! Eating clean is always great but it’s okay to treat yourself sometimes!

GLITTER: Favorite book right now?

JAYLEN: Rupi Kaur’s The Sun and Her Flowers.

GLITTER: Favorite quote?

JAYLEN: Favorite quote is “If they wanted to, they would.”

GLITTER: Do you have any new projects coming up that you can tell us about?

JAYLEN: Yes! I have a few animated series I’m working on but I’m not allowed to say names just yet.

GLITTER: What positive message do you hope to send women who follow you?

JAYLEN: A positive message would be to embrace yourself! Flaws and all! You are the only person who is in your skin so, you might as well love it and have a good time wearing it! You look good on YOU!

GLITTER: Many women are coming forward in media and standing up for their rights as women. How important is this issue to you?

JAYLEN: It’s extremely important. I feel like women tend to go against each other when in fact we should uplift one another! We can’t shame women for things that aren’t there fault and we must make a change when they do speak out so that way it encourages others who may be scared or ashamed to come forward and we can put a stop to sexual harassment one day at a time.

GLITTER: What role are you dying to play?

JAYLEN: I would love to play a kind of “Kill Bill” role! That would be so cool!

GLITTER: How can fans follow you?

JAYLEN: You can follow me on Instagram: @jaylenbarron and Twitter: @jaylenjbarron.
