Nyle DiMarco Stars In ASL Remake Of Ariana Grande’s ‘7 Rings’ Music Video

Instagram

The supermodel and activist surprised us all with this super sexy remake. Nyle DiMarco has blessed us all with another push towards inclusivity. The 29 year old winner of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 22 and Dancing With The Stars Season 22 has been making strides toward change within the deaf community since his rise to fame in 2015. As the first deaf contestant on each show, Nyle made it his mission to represent those in his community and to educate those outside of the community that may not have extended knowledge into the struggles and challenges of the deaf community.

In 2016, he started the Nyle DiMarco Foundation, a non-profit organization who’s mission is to “improve the lives of every deaf person in the world” by improving access to research based information about early language acquisition. Nyle comes from a multigenerational deaf family and grew up learning ASL and English. These are the opportunities he looks to bring to deaf children and their families all over the world.

With the release of the ASL version of “7 Rings” on January 28th, directed by Jake Wilson, Nyle is making it possible for people within the deaf community to be able to enjoy music videos without having to read lips.

Nyle brought us all of the fun of Ariana Grande’s original video while throwing his own style into the mix. In the video you’ll see a group of gorgeous men dressed in streetwear, signing the lyrics to the Billboard number 1 in front of a blue lit “trap house” reflecting the pink hue in the original Ariana video.

Nyle being the front runner of the new 7 Rings crew perfectly mimics Ariana’s movements and flows effortlessly throughout the entire song. He serves up the dance moves and gives us glimpses of  his famous supermodel figure. With this major move making quite a buzz, will we being seeing more artists include captions and ASL translators in their music videos? Ariana included captions in the original “7 Rings” video after Nyle confronted Vevo about not included captions for her “Thank U, Next” music video and even praised Nyle and Jake Wilson for their work on the remake.

Hopefully this is a wake up call to others within the music industry and we see more changes like this one in the future.
