Take a Look at the First Teaser for Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters Film

It has been thirty years since the last movie in the original Ghostbusters universe, but Jason Reitman is here to pick up where his father left off.

The newest film installment will be directed by Jason Reitman, who is a well known, successful Hollywood director, and also the son of the original director, Ivan Reitman. Jason Reitman is known for movies like Up in the Air, Juno, and The Front Runner, as well as a short directing stint on The Office.

The original Ghostbusters film, released in 1984, was an instant classic. The original was directed by Ivan Reitman and won the Saturn Award for best science fiction or fantasy film as well as several Oscar nominations. Also, just recently, in 2016 it was inducted into the OFAT Film Hall of Fame. This is a movie with a great legacy.

It is still beloved by children and adults alike. The cult classic even inspired the 2016 all-female remake with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. We still see Ghostbusters action figures in toy stores. The sound of the theme song is full of nostalgia. We even saw an homage to the film in the most recent season of the hit Netflix series, “Stranger Things.”

In summer 2020 the legacy will live on. In a tweet from Entertainment Weekly this morning, we received the first look at the newest installment of the original Ghostbusters universe. The trailer is just under a minute long and doesn’t give away much of anything about the plot, but there are several easter eggs hidden away for fans of the original film to spot.

If Jason’s past work has anything to say about this new project, we can expect great things to come. Make sure to check out the trailer and keep an eye out for the release date because this is sure to be spookily superb.
