Margot Robbie to Star as Barbie in a New Film
Barbie is finally coming to the big screen as a live-action film, and who better to play her role than the Academy Award-nominated actress, Margot Robbie?
Mattel, Inc. and Warner Bros. Pictures Group has announced a new partnership to bring the Barbie franchise to life in a first-ever, live-action feature film. The movie also marks the first deal coming out of the newly established Mattel Films, led by Academy Award-winning producer, Robbie Brenner.
Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group, boasts of Margot Robbie’s contribution to the role, “Margot is the ideal producer and actress to bring Barbie to life on screen in a fresh and relevant way for today’s audiences.”
The Suicide Squad actress is excited for the role as well, understanding fully well the importance of her portrayal’s effect on children and people all around the world:
“Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity, and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery. Over the brand’s almost 60 years, Barbie has empowered kids to imagine themselves in aspirational roles from a princess to president. I’m so honored to take on this role and produce a film that I believe will have a tremendously positive impact on children and audiences worldwide. I can’t imagine better partners than Warner Bros and Mattel to bring this film to the big screen.”
We can’t wait to see what the actress has in store for us, and she surely doesn’t disappoint.
