Netflix Acquires Chris Smith’s Fyre Festival Documentary ‘FYRE’

Netflix

This January, people will get an inside look at the most exclusive festival that turned into a complete nightmare.

Viewers will get their first exclusive look at the music festival scam that made headlines. In a press release issued by Netflix, the official logline of the show reads:

“An exclusive behind the scenes look at the infamous unraveling of the Fyre music festival. Created by Billy McFarland and rapper Ja Rule, Fyre was promoted as a luxury music festival on a private island in the Bahamas featuring bikini-clad supermodels, A-List musical performances and posh amenities. Guests arrived to discover the reality was far from the promises.”

The Emmy nominated director Chris Smith takes us inside the festival and the disastrous turnout of the festival told by the organizers themselves. Take a look at the teaser trailer for FYRE.

It started as being advertised as a luxury music festival, then quickly turned to disaster, as patrons of the festival tweeted of the unorganized sleeping arrangements from mattresses strewn across the island to dilapidated tents. Patrons were promised delicious meals but were met with cold cheese sandwiches. Not to mention, the island wasn’t at all what people expected.

It was one of the most notorious scandals in music history.

You can see FYRE unfold on January 18th exclusively on Netflix.
