The multi-talented film director teams up with one of the world’s largest entertainment companies.

Everyone in Hollywood is talking about Ava DuVernay, and for a good reason. She has continuously broken barriers since first emerging onto the film scene in 2012. To note just a few of her incredible accomplishments, she is the first black, female director both to be nominated for a Golden Globe (for her work on Selma) and to have her film nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Less than a year after the release of her most well-known film, A Wrinkle in Time, DuVernay has signed a $100 million dollar contract with Warner Brothers Studios. The deal begins in January of 2019 and will allow her to produce a variety of content for both cable and streaming services, including drama and comedy series, documentaries, and digital content.

The filmmaker’s production company, Forward Movement, is committed to presenting stories that offer a message of inclusion for all people. DuVernay is looking to bring greater diversity and acceptance to the screen through her Warner Brothers deal.

It’s no doubt that Ava DuVernay will use her connection with Warner Brothers to produce fresh, inspiring, and relevant content. We can’t wait to see what upcoming projects she has in store!
