Disney Gives Viewers a Special Look at ‘Mary Poppins Returns’

Walt Disney gave Mary Poppins fans a special look into the sequel set to air at the end of 2018.

The latest trailer aired on the night of October 22nd on ABC during Dancing with the Stars. The most recent trailer for Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns gave viewers a first listen into some of the upcoming music for the film as well as some new scenes.

One of the newest scenes features Mary Poppins, played by Emily Blunt, setting up a bathtub for the Banks children Annabel, John, and Georgie – played by Pixie Davies, Nathanael Saleh, Joel Dawson. A dolphin peeks out from the bathtub and Mary tells the dolphin, “no, not yet,” to the bewilderment of the children.

It later transitions to Mary, Annabel, John, and Georgie swimming through an underwater fantasy as Blunt sings “Some people like to splash and play / can you imagine that?” – this is one of the latest previews into new songs written for Mary Poppins Returns.

Blunt continues to sing in the trailer – “perhaps we’ve learned that when a day is done / that stuff and nonsense could be fun!”

The trailer also dazzles with scenes that are a mixture of live-action and colorful 2D animation which are akin to the “Jolly Holiday” and the “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” sequences from the original film. 3D animation has been prominent in modern animation films and you never see live-action and 2D animation together these days so it is good that Mary Poppins Returns is returning to its old roots.
