HBO’s popular crime anthology True Detective is finally coming back for Season 3. The shows last season left off in 2015, so fans have been eager to finally see the drama return. Each season has a new set of characters, a new cast, and a different narrative.

The first season starred Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Michelle Monaghan, Michael Potts, and Tory Kittles, and takes place in Louisiana. The second season starred  Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, Kelly Reilly, and Vince Vaughn and takes place in California. The newest season will have Mahershala Ali in the lead role and will follow a detective searching for missing children.

The show will have much of the same vibe as season 1 and is set to premiere in January of 2019.

HBO released the first full-length trailer in August. You can catch up on the previous seasons of True Detective on HBO, HBOGO, and HBONOW.
