Rumor has it…Margot Robbie is in talks to star in the upcoming, live-action Barbie film.

A script revolving around the universally-known, billion-dollar Barbie doll franchise has been circulating for the past year. While initially picked up for development by Sony Pictures, the production has officially been passed over to Warner Bros.

Before considering Robbie, the studio focused on Amy Schumer to portray the role and provide the film with a comedic spin. However, Schumer dropped the part due to scheduling conflicts. Anne Hathaway was additionally speculated to replace Schumer.

Patty Jenkins, director of Wonder Woman, is additionally rumored to direct.

Sony’s original concept for the film revolved around Barbie getting kicked out of Barbieland because she doesn’t quite fit it and adventures to the outside world. It is unclear whether Warner Bros. will carry on this idea.

Robbie is known for her diverse characters, such as Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad and Tonya Harding in I, Tonya. While it remains unconfirmed, the actress will clearly have no problem tackling the role of Barbie.
