It was announced this week that Jemele will be narrating NBA superstar’s Showtime documentary “Shut Up and Dribble.”

“Shut Up and Dribble” is a documentary that goes into depth about the impact that NBA players have on social issues. In Colin Kaepernick’s Nike ad, the former football player expressed about Lebron James in the ad, “don’t become the best basketball player on the planet. Be bigger than basketball.”

It’s great that Lebron is the greatest basketball on the planet but it is what he does with his platform and Lebron has proven that he is bigger than basketball.

Back in 2014, Lebron James and the Net Players showed solidarity with Eric Garner by wearing “I can’t breathe” shirts

The name of the documentary is in response to a Fox News commentator who told the basketball player to “shut up and dribble” when he dared labeled Donald Trump as a racist.

We see that happen a lot when it comes to entertainment figures who speak out against bigotry. People like Colin Kaepernick who are being punished for supporting a great cause. Jemele Hill herself was punished for speaking out against the current administration.

Jemele announced the news on her Instagram.

“Very excited that @kingjames pegged me to be involved in this incredible documentary for @showtime. It’s an incredible opportunity on a personal level, but more importantly, this is pushing forward an important conversation.”

It’s always great to see people use their platforms to speak out against injustice. It shows the people that do not have voices that someone that they look up to has their back.
