To bolster popularity for its upcoming online streaming service, Disney has made plans for potential new shows focusing on Loki, Scarlet Witch, and other popular Marvel Cinematic Universe characters.

Variety was the first to break the story about the potential Marvel shows coming to Disney’s new streaming service. The Marvel shows on Disney’s streaming service will apparently be vastly unlike the other Marvel television shows currently on air either on ABC, Netflix, or Freeform such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, and Cloak and Dagger.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, is expected to work closely on cultivating these new Marvel shows. These Marvel shows are also expected to run for a limited time with up to six to eight episodes total. Finally, there’s also the possibility that the actors of the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen will star and reprise their roles for the small screen.

This has been done in a similar manner on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the former ABC Marvel series Agent Carter with actors Clark Gregg, Samuel L. Jackson, and Hayley Atwell reprising their characters Phil Coulson, Nick Fury, and Peggy Carter respectively from the Marvel films for television.

Disney had also previously announced a new Star Wars series helmed by Iron Man director Jon Favreau to air on their streaming service. Disney hopes that utilizing these upcoming shows for their streaming service will help them achieve the height of current streaming service giants such as Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu.

The untitled Disney streaming service is set to come out next year in late 2019.
