Michael B. Jordan in the Running to Play the Next Superman

Black Panther Star Michael B. Jordan is reportedly being considered to replace Henry Cavill in DC’s SupermanThere has been lots of speculation whether or not Cavill would be returning to his prized role as Superman.  Warner Brother’s spoke out on the recent gossip, stating, “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”

While the studio is currently busy with the production of Supergirl, there have been claims the Warner Bros. has been looking to further diversify the franchise for some time.  Michael B. Jordan was a part of the conversation of potential candidates, which would make him the first black actor to be cast as Superman.

Michael B. Jordan was praised for his performance as the villainous Erik Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther.  Jordan’s first time in the  Marvel Universe was in 2015 when he played the role of Johnny Smith in Fantastic Four.

Cavill’s only response to the rumors has been a rather odd, cryptic Instagram video of him raising and lowering his Superman doll, while a song with barking dogs plays in the background. Not weird at all, right?

Cavill’s last time starring as Superman was in the 2017 Justice League movie.  Whether Cavill’s future includes a cape or not remains unconfirmed, however, Cavill has secured the main role in the upcoming Netflix series Witcher.
