Avril Lavigne To Drop New Single After Years Of Battling Lyme Disease

After a five year battle with Lyme disease and absent from the music scene, Avril Lavinge has announced a new single and album. 

Lavigne was full of news to share with her fans this week. After years of battling her illness, she took to social media to announce her new album and her new single. In a heartfelt letter to fans, she opened up about what her life has been like over the past few years and her emotional and physical struggles that came along with battling an illness.


“I had accepted death and could feel my body shutting down. I felt like I was drowning.” She writes in her letter, expressing her desperation to “just keep my head above water.” With all these struggles happening, she decided to turn to music and talk about her ongoing battle. She goes on to talk about her mission to spread awareness of Lyme disease and talks about future plans with growing her foundation.

Fans were also excited to see that a music video for her new single was in the works. The “Sk8ter Boi” singer shared behind the scenes clips and photos.

Fans can expect to see a different side to Lavigne’s music, as she promises to be “more open and vulnerable.” Her new single “Head Above Water” releases September 19th.
