Max Joseph Says Farewell to ‘Catfish’
Dear Nev and who? Not Max anymore, apparently.
The filmmaker turned television co-host took to Twitter on August 8 to announce that he is parting ways with Catfish: The TV Show after seven seasons.
Hey guys, the time has come, sadly, for me to leave Catfish… pic.twitter.com/w21HFsfiz9

Not to fear, Catfish fans. The split doesn’t appear to come from any problems with the show itself, but rather Joseph’s desire to pursue his passion for filmmaking full-time. After taking several brief periods of absence from Catfish over the years to work on other projects, the news that he is moving on isn’t entirely shocking.
Despite the announcement that Max is leaving, a new Catfish co-host has yet to be named. Not long after Max broke the news online, social media fans began speculating that Laura Perlongo, previous guest host, and Nev Schulman’s wife, may take over the position. However, Perlongo quickly took to Twitter to dispel the rumors:
I feel bad for whoever DOES replace Max cuz some stans out here crazy mean (not to mention sexist). I filled in twice to help in a pinch. I’m just the rebound, not your new stepmom. Don’t burn out.

Though Catfish will surely not be the same without Max’s witty comments and overall insight, it will be exciting to follow his solo projects in the near future.
Max Joseph’s last episode of Catfish airs on Wednesday, August 29th on MTV.
