Aja Naomi King + Virgil Abloh Show Support for Serena Williams

Instagram

Recently, news broke about Serena Williams’ infamous “Black Panther” catsuit during the French Open.

The athlete was banned from wearing the catsuit at future French opens because it was against the dress code. Serena challenged the ban by stating that the catsuit is not a fashion statement, but to protect the new mom from blood clots. Serena has been very open about he struggles that she faced when she was pregnant with her daughter, Olympia.

Serena’s response to the ban is iconic. The tennis player decided to wear a tutu during the US Open against Poland’s Magda Linette. Serena’s message is clear and we all heard it.

The best part of the whole thing is that Serena wore a Tutu with sparkly silver sneakers which came from the Virgil Abloh x Nike connection.

Abloh is not the only one supporting Serena, “How to Get Away with Murder,” actress Aja Naomi King posted a picture of Serena in her Tutu and captioned the post “Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.”

The celebrity support of Serena is great because it is always nice to see people of color supporting one another, especially during times of injustice.
