Why ‘America’s Got Talent’ Contestant Amanda Mena Is an Inspiration

(Instagram)

At only 15-years-old, singer Amanda Mena auditioned for America’s largest talent show and has served as nothing less than an inspiration for young viewers ever since.

America’s Got Talent introduces Mena for the first time during auditions for the show’s current season, season 13. The young artist blew away both the audience and the panel of judges with her performance, but not before sharing her inspiring story.

Mena expresses her struggles of being born in the Dominican Republic, immigrating to the United States at the age of four, and being bullied by her peers because she couldn’t speak English. She credits music as the number one reason she was able to overcome her disheartening experiences, and that shines through in her audition. After belting out”Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin, Mena scores the rare golden buzzer from one of the judges, Mel B. The golden buzzer sent the singer straight to the live shows.

Amanda’s story continues to inspire and motivate young female viewers to chase their dream, no matter what they look like and no matter where they come from. While the teenage singer has acted as a female role model, she has also killed it in the competition, standing as a contestant in the Semi-Finals.
